What is the Struthers School Foundation?
The Foundation was established to provide funds for extended educational activities not provided by the school district. It is incorporated under the State of Ohio as a non-profit organization and will function separately from the Struthers Board of Education.
Who will benefit from the work of The Struthers School Foundation?
The monies contributed will provide students of the Struthers City School District with supplemental reading materials, computer equipment, and other sustainable items to enrich their educational opportunities. Since 2003 The Foundation has awarded over $71,500 to worthy grant applicants.
How does the Foundation work?
The Foundation Trustees raise funds through fundraisers, like their “Luau for Learning,” direct solicitations and their Buy-a-Brick campaign. Contributions from alumni, businesses, local residents, bequests and gifts are placed in one of two Foundation accounts to accrue interest. This money is awarded to worthy grant applicants by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees who meet their funding criteria.
Where is the money being placed?
A Huntington Investment Wrap Account which consists of Managed Mutual Funds with a 50/50 split between Bond and Stock Funds and a First Catholic Slovak Union Branch Deposit Account.

Why was the Foundation established?
The Foundation was established to give alumni, community members, businesses and all other concerned people an opportunity to support the academics of the school district. By law, the Board of Education had to approve a resolution saying the foundation can begin and appointed the 1st Board of Trustees.
